You are engaged, you are in love, you are planning your future together. Celebrate your commitment with an engagement portrait session.
[dropcap4]E[/dropcap4]ngagement portraits are an important part of your wedding experience. Not only does it give you a chance to get to know your photographer but it gives your photographer a chance to get to know you! You are going to have more fun and higher quality photos if you know your photographer and have worked with him/her previously. It can be awkward for both of you if the first time you meet is at the church on your wedding day. While a few of us may enjoy being the center of attention the fact is some of us don't. This is where professional wedding photographers excel. We work with you to make you comfortable and teach you how to look your best. The things you learn from your engagement session are then easily repeated for your wedding day making you
Krista and Cody - Dubuque, IA
the stunning bride and cool groom you envision yourselves being.
Engagement portraits also play a formal part of how you announce your intentions to become married. Typically you will place an engagement announcement in the local newspaper and include one of your favorite engagement photos. Of course, when your friends see your photo in the newspaper you want it to be so stunning that they are jealous you booked the best photographer in town.
Booking Your Session
We book engagement sessions six to nine months before your wedding date. This keeps the images
current enough to still look like you and allow enough time for any products that may use an image to be created. It is popular for engagement images to be used in wedding invitations, wedding programs, images displayed at the reception or used as wedding gifts to the parents.
If you already have your wedding photographer booked but they don't offer engagement coverage, no problem! We would still love to work with you to celebrate your engagement.
Location, Location, Location
Where you get your engagement portraits taken should be an expression of you as a couple. Dubuque offers many historic and stunning locations to serve as a backdrop to your session. Popular places like the Riverwalk, Star Brewery, Downtown Main Street and the Mines of Spain are all favorite locations. We encourage couples to choose places that are unique to them. Many of our most stunning images come from family farms and hidden locations tucked off the beaten path. For the less adventurous we can also shoot your session in the comfort of our studio.
I've Got to Go Shopping!
What to wear can be more of a decision. We encourage you to be yourselves. You will be happier with images that look like how you see yourself than with images you don't recognize. Don't be afraid to throw in several outfits. It is always great to have choices when you find the shirt that you had picked out clashes with the red brick wall that you are dying to have your picture taken against.
